20 Years on Auburn Avenue!
On May 9, 2003, Imagination Stage moved from two small, compromised spaces into our beautiful home on Auburn Avenue.
A Helen Hayes Award for NAKED MOLE RAT GETS DRESSED!
The Helen Hayes Awards were presented on Monday night at The Anthem by TheatreWashington, the region’s alliance of theatre organizations. Imagination Stage was honored to have four nominations, and were thrilled to receive the award for "Outstanding Production–Theatre for Young Audiences" for our 2022 production of Naked Mole Rats Gets Dressed: The Rock Experience.
Several of the Naked Mole Rat… cast members were on hand--and very well dressed, it should be noted! The shows director, Kathryn Chase Bryer accepted the award. She thanked the fabulous Washington theatre community and said: "Imagination Stage knows how vital it is to begin the habit of theatre going from the earliest age. We believe in making excellent work for young audiences who deserve the best artists this community has to offer. And more than ever, since the pandemic, Imagination Stage recognizes how the arts play an essential role in youth development. Children from every socio-economic group need experiences that teach empathy, demonstrate resilience, and inspire hope. Theatre does just that."
