(AGES 3.5-5)

What will we find in our Magic Suitcase this winter? Take a look inside for curious clues as to where we’re off to today! During our three-hour mini-camp, students will explore stories that coordinate with the destination revealed by the Magic Suitcase each day. Students will create characters and bring stories to life through dramatic play, music, movement, visual art, and the use of simple props and costumes.

Campers spend each day immersed in a popular storybook and then explore that story through movement, visual art, and creative drama, while working on some introductory performance skills along the way!

(GRADES 3-5)

The camp day is broken up into several sections that span a variety of theatrical topics. Past sessions have included Acting, Production, Improvisation, Stage Combat, Directing, Musical Theatre, Dialects, and Acting for the Camera. Session topics vary from day to day.

(GRADES 6-12)

Based on popular 24-hour play festivals around the country, Imagination Stage is excited to host the Play Off competition! Actors register in teams (get a group of friends or classmates together!) or as individuals (and IS will assign you to team) and work towards producing a 10-minute play—all within 24 hours! Teams are provided mentorship by Imagination Stage staff, access to props and costumes from Imagination Stage’s collection, and will perform in The Reeve Studio Theatre for a panel of judges comprised of theatre professionals from the DC community. Friends and family are invited to attend the performance at 7:30pm.

Contact Nikki Kaplan for additional Play Off information.

After-Care consists of supervised free time. Imagination Stage provides art supplies, games and a tv/dvd player. Campers may bring books or music if they choose to have more solitary pursuits after a long day of fun and creativity.
