Early Childhood Teaching Artist

Imagination Stage is looking for early childhood teaching artists for in-person pre-school arts residencies in Washington D.C. for children ages 3-4 starting in school year 2024-2025. Applicants should demonstrate an interest in young children and the arts. We will provide training to familiarize successful applicants with our teaching philosophy and methods. We also provide guidance with curriculum and lesson planning. This is a full school year commitment, Monday-Friday during school hours 5-10 hours a week. Additional teaching hours with Imagination Stage may be available. Compensation is $47 per teaching hour.

Responsibilities

  • Working from a provided curriculum outline and support materials to create arts-integrated lesson plans for each week in either drama, music, movement, visual art or yoga
  • Implement lesson plans, incorporating sensory props, visuals, and instruments to create a multi-sensory experience
  • Prepare students for an end of year sharing
  • Report to the School Partnerships Senior Manager at Imagination Stage for monthly check-ins

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience working in an early childhood setting 
  • Creative Drama, Music, Movement, and/or Visual Arts experience preferred
  • Degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Elementary Education, or Theatre preferred
  • Ability to speak another language (particularly Spanish) a plus
