Coming Soon: A New Look for Imagination Stage!

As Imagination Stage approaches our 15th year on Auburn Avenue,  leaders such as State Comptroller Peter Franchot and Governor Larry Hogan have recognized the organization’s contributions to our community. Founded in 1979 with a handful of children in a single classroom, Imagination Stage is now recognized as one of the country’s top theatres and arts education centers for young audiences, as well as a national leader in access and inclusion. In recognition of these achievements, the state of Maryland has allocated funds for the renovation of our building. The centerpiece of this renovation will be a  re-imagined lobby featuring a family-focused design with expanded seating, an interactive activity space, and a cafe serving coffee and treats from local businesses.

When we opened the doors at our new address in 2003, Imagination Stage reached approximately 20,000 students and audience members each year. Today, we serve nearly 100,000 children and families annually and the number continues to increase. After a decade and a half of outstanding growth, our facility is in need of significant updating and refurbishment.

Imagination stage will rely on donors to complement the state funds allocated to this ambitious project. Donors to the Imagination Stage Renovation Campaign have the opportunity to name the new gallery and concessions area, as well as digital display boards, benches, and our new water refill station. Donors to the campaign will be permanently listed on our donor wall in the most prominent space in our building – guaranteeing both lasting impact and visibility.

We look forward to welcoming our patrons to a modern, flexible, and interactive lobby space very soon!
