Volunteer With Imagination Stage

Volunteer Ushers

Imagination Stage depends on volunteers to serve the many patrons who pass through our doors. Our Ushers perform some of the most important jobs on behalf of Imagination Stage, including greeting our patrons, collecting their tickets, helping them to their seats and ensuring that every experience they have at Imagination Stage helps us meet our mission of helping all young people discover their voice and identity through performing arts education and professional theatre.

Who Can Volunteer as an Usher?

Everyone! Ushering is open to all ages* and abilities. Here are just some kinds of volunteer ushers:

Family Volunteer Program

Instill in your children a love for giving back to the community! Families can serve as volunteer ushers together.  From handing out programs to taking tickets, we have many tasks that even our youngest ushers can help with. Plus, families will be able to stay and see the show together.

Student Service Learning (SSL) Hours

MCPS students can earn student service learning (SSL) hours by ushering at Imagination Stage. Easy, flexible, and fun, this is the perfect opportunity to meet this requirement while giving back. Students will experience first-hand what it’s like to work in guest experiences for a professional theatre and educational institution.

Senior Citizens

Volunteering at Imagination Stage is a perfect intergenerational activity. The Imagination Stage family is for ages 1-101 and many of our senior volunteers bond over the chance to help a child at their first experience at the theatre.

Groups, Scouts, and Business Volunteers

Have a group that wants to volunteer together?  Let us know! Ushering is a great team-building service activity. Group volunteers are recognized at the theatre making volunteering a great way to help promote your brand in the community.

*A parent, guardian, or group chaperone must accompany volunteers under the age of 15.
