Dear Imagination Stage Families,

This time of year is usually filled with so much excitement at Imagination Stage as our teaching artists and education staff are busy preparing for summer camps. Even though we are now socially distanced, we are actively preparing for Summer at Imagination Stage. We know many families are wondering about our plans for Summer Camps in light of COVID-19, so we wanted to provide you an update. As always, the health and safety of our campers is our top priority and we will be following all recommendations from the Maryland Department of Health regarding camp safety.

So you and your family can plan, here is our timeline for making a decision regarding if camps are able to continue:

– On or before May 11, we will be updating camp attendees regarding camps beginning June 8

– On or before May 18, we will be updating camp attendees regarding camps beginning June 15 and June 22

– On or before June 1, we will be updating camp attendees regarding camps beginning June 29, and July 6, and July 13

– On or before June 8, we will provide an update regarding July 20 and beyond

In the event of a camp cancellation due to Covid-19, we still would like to be there for your family, even when we are unable to be gathered together. For any week of camp canceled, we will offer Virtual Class options for our campers. While there is no replacement for the excitement of in-person camps, these classes will be a half-hour to two hours a day of interactive Theatre Arts experiences with one of our professional teaching artists.  Prices for these offerings will be $35-$130, depending on the length of programming. There will be both morning and afternoon options available so you can mix and match your own schedule.

We have always had and adhered to no refund policy for camps canceled due to circumstances beyond our control. In the light of this unprecedented pandemic, we are happy to extend our families a credit – issued in the form of an Imagination Stage gift card – for the cost of their canceled camp. This credit can be applied to our virtual summer programming and/or future camps, classes, performances, and birthday parties at Imagination Stage through August 2022.

Unfortunately, like so many community-focused non-profits, this pandemic has left Imagination Stage grappling with how to move forward in the most fiscally-responsible way to make sure we remain open for our students and patrons, our more than 120 full-time and seasonal staff, and the local community we serve and support. To that end, the Imagination Stage Board of Trustees has decided that we will not be able to waive our no refund policy in the event of a camp cancellation due to COVID-19 – beyond the issuing of full credits through an Imagination Stage gift card.

In the event that camps are able to continue, the safety and cleanliness of our space will be a primary concern. We are consulting with local health experts to put processes and procedures in place to make Imagination Stage as safe and welcoming as possible. Our safety plan will be announced soon.

Thank you for your continued support of Imagination Stage. We are dedicated to making the summer a fun and arts-rich environment.
